Amman – 12 June – The Children’s Museum celebrated the 79th Independence Day of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with a special program that reflects the values of citizenship and national belonging. The celebration took place on the 22nd and 23rd of May and was supported by MetLife Foundation.
The Independence Day program, titled “How Beautiful Our Jordan Is,” aimed to strengthen national identity and foster a sense of belonging among children. It included a variety of engaging and interactive activities that showcased Jordan’s rich heritage, culture, and history. Children participated in the Bedouin Motifs activity, where they created paper textiles inspired by traditional Bedouin patterns. In the “How Beautiful Jordan’s Symbols Are” activity, they learned about and crafted some of Jordan’s national symbols. In the Story and Traditional Proverbs activity, they listened to stories that reflect well-known Jordanian proverbs still shared today.
The program also included a painting activity called “Colors of the Flag,” where children painted the Jordanian flag, and the “How Beautiful Your Colors Are” activity, where children went on a visual tour across Jordan’s governorates and created colors inspired by the country’s diverse natural landscapes. They also enjoyed a lively dabkeh performance by the Al-Ajawid troupe. At the end of the day, children participated in a “March of Pride and Honor” alongside the Fuheis Scouts, expressing their love and pride for Jordan.
Reflecting on the event, Children’s Museum Director Sawsan Dalaq emphasized the Museum’s interactive role, stating: “Our team worked hard to bring the 2025 Independence Day program to life, which featured unique national activities designed to instill love for Jordan and a sense of belonging in the hearts of our young and adult visitors. This made learning a fun and exciting experience. The dedication and cooperation of our team played a key role in achieving our vision of nurturing a generation that seeks knowledge. We also extend our sincere thanks to MetLife Foundation for supporting the Independence Day program, which enabled children to learn more about Jordan’s history and national symbols.”
